I'm a 27-year-old Ohioan, born & raised, though I'm currently living in a small town on the New Hampshire seacoast. I moved here in February of 2011 to be with my boyfriend Nathan, a Damage Controlman with the U.S. Coast Guard. Before moving here, I spent three years living in our nation's capital, writing on this little blog about the intersection of city living & Midwestern mentality - & now I'm doing my best to keep the momentum up by reporting on New England's unique brand of crazy, where everyone sounds like they're cast members in The Departed.
I have a degree in magazine journalism & a professional background in public policy, communications, media relations, and social media. Now employed by a major Jewish organization, I also identify as an aspiring freelancer & hopeful future author, though I haven't taken any steps to bring that hope to fruition. I miss reporting, writing & editing, but I've yet to break into the business of doing what I love for pay.
What else? I prefer ampersands to "and," dives to clubs, flats to heels, & the Midwest to just about anywhere. I like exclamations, but not exclamation points. I like italics, but not as much as, say, J.D. Salinger does. And I have a great mental thesaurus.
I probably want to hear from you (unless you're really mean), & I'm always looking for input, ideas, & constructive criticism. You can reach me at suburbansweetheart@gmail.com or find me on Twitter & 20sb. I also blog at Jewish Women's Archive & write travel pieces for Twenties Hacker.
